Queen Charlotte Sounds

Queen Charlotte Sounds

Swing bridge on Queen Charlotte Track Ship Cove to Punga Cove - one day ride, (available from 1 March until 30 November each year)
Day 1:
Depart from Picton on the Endeavour Express at 09:00am as we head off to the historic Ship Cove. You will have time to explore a bit here before starting your ride. The first hill is difficult and most riders end up pushing for much of the way, approx 30 minutes. The problem is not so much the steepness as the tree roots, rocks and gullies. The view from the first saddle makes the effort worth it and the downhill to Resolution Bay is another reward for the climb. Then another gentle uphill ride to Tawa Saddle, after this point its all but downhill or gentle roll contour to Furneaux Lodge where you could have a break, and a bite to eat.
The last stretch is quite easy going although sometimes a bit muddy around Big Bay to Camp Bay.
Endeavour Express pickup at Punga Cove at 3.00pm for the return journey to Picton.

Torea Bay to Punga Cove - one day ride, (available all year round)
Depart from Picton on the Endeavour Express at 09:00am as we head off to Torea Bay to drop you off to start the bike ride in a South to North direction along the track. Travel time Picton to Torea Bay is around 15 minutes.
From Torea Bay to Punga Cove the track has a succession of changing views of both sounds as you travel along towards Kenepuru Saddle. After the Bay of Many coves shelter you will come across a side track up to Eatwells lookout, which is a panoramic viewpoint of the sounds, its best to leave the bikes on the main part of track and walk up to the view point, take a camera with you.
Endeavour Express pickup at Punga Cove at 3.00pm for the return journey to Picton.
